Alumni from Jesuit schools from Latin America met for the first time in Miami, Florida to celebrate their Ignatian heritage and to support the work of Friends of Fe y Alegría in the United States.

“Fe y Alegría is one of the best educational institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean and we are joining their mission by helping them from the United States” says Guillermo Lacayo, one of the event organizers and alumnus from Colegio Centro América in Managua, Nicaragua.

The keynote was delivered by Rev. Luis Ugalde, sj, former President of Andres Bello Catholic University in Venezuela, co-founder of Magis Americas in the US, and longtime supporter of Fe y Alegría for over forty years.

Doner Garcia Romero, an alumnus from the Colegio San Ignacio de Loyola in Caracas, Venezuela, says “This is a great opportunity to meet old friends and celebrate 60 years of Fe y Alegría helping school children in Venezuela and on the whole Continent.”
